Add a new Category:

1.  Category Title: This is what your category will be named on the home page. Feature cart does not like ' (apostrophe's) in the titles name. It also does not like any special symbols. Make sure you use only text or it will not let you submit it when you are done.

2. Button Image: If you have a button designed for this particular category you would upload it to the file utilities and then select it here. If you have no button designated for this category the category name will be listed as text. If you want it to be text leave it on the "Select Image".

3. Category Meta Keywords: You would list any meta keywords you want to be associated with searches done in google, yahoo, etc.

4. Category Type: Your two options are Standard and Qcat. Standard is the normal option selected. If you wanted your categories to be displayed in row style with very limited information Qcat is the type for you.

5. Protect this Category: No is the automatic answer for this. Please only select "Yes" if you want the category to only be accessed by those you give a username and password to.

6. Show Thumbnails Before Product Description: If you select "No" your customer will not see a picture of your product until they click the product listing. If you select "Yes" your customer will see a thumbnail of each product beside the product price. Once they click on that particular product a more in-depth description will be given along with the option of seeing a larger image.

7. Show In Collections Only: If you select "Yes" your item will not be viewable in the category section. It will only be accessed through the Collections. For more information about Collections please see their tutorial.

8. Product Thumbnails Width in Pixles: This is the size your thumbnails will be beside your product descriptions. 100 is the default.

9. Category Comment: This comment will be posted under the category name. You can leave this blank if you choose.

Edit a Category:

Double click on the category you need to make changes to. You will be re-directed to a page that looks very similar to the page above for adding a new category. Make any changes needed and after you are done hit submit at the bottom of the page.

Delete Categories: Before you can delete a category all products must be deleted first. After you know there is nothing left in the category just click its name to delete it.

If you still have products left in the category you will get this error message: 

Re-sort Category: 

Sort by: Custom, Ascending, or Descending.

Category: Name of categories you have created

Sort Order: Default is 0 so the store will just place your categories as it desires. You can put them in order by placing a 1 by what you want at the top and so on.

Protect: This lets you make categories only viewable by password.

Categories Protection: This is where you will give and delete access to the categories you have protected. Make sure you give yourself access so that you can view them also. Feature cart gives some good information under this link to help you. If you plan on using the Protected Categories make sure that you have the %MEMBERS% from the special tag library in your html store template.

Sub Categories:

Sub Category Columns: Lets you decide how many sub categories you will have in a column. Make sure that the width of your splash page can handle the number of sub categories you put.

Default Thumbnail Width: If you have pictures for the sub categories this will be how big the thumbnail pictures are for the sub categories.

Parent Category: Here you will select the category the subcategory is going in.

Click Add New Sub Category

Sub Categories: This is where the name you choose for your sub category will go.

If you have no button designated for this sub category the sub category name will be listed as text. If you want it to be text leave it on the "Select Image".

Sub Category Meta Keywords: You would list any meta keywords you want to be associated with searches done in google, yahoo, etc.

Sub Category Comment: This comment will be posted under the sub category name. You can leave this blank if you choose.

Click Submit to save all changes you have made.

Reassign Products to Categories: This will list all your products and you can change its category by the drop down menu to the far right hand side. You can only change one product at a time so make sure you hit the go button after each and every change.
